Accomplishments!

Business is going well and every day is an adventure. We're tired and overwhelmed but I accomplished mailing the lawn last week - it had gone to seed... and Duffy got his nails clipped last night - they were soooo long. Two major accomplishments. Major goals for this week are to go grocery shopping and buy underwear. I never thought there would be a time when finding the time for such small tasks would be a major accomplishment!

Checking in on friends and got thinking...

I was reading some blogs from old BFL friends because I'm watching Dancing with the Stars and one of them is singing on there!

I am physically about where I was a couple years ago before body for life as well. But I know I'm going to get back to it...and you know what? Maybe it is ok to be 'back' where I started. How often do we do BFL or get ready for a comp because we are scared of getting 'fat'. Well I now am what I feared and you know what? I'm out of shape and it's not healthy but the world didn't end, my life is great and I'm a very lucky person. However, I choose...I prefer to live a bit leaner, healthier lifestyle. I will get back to that lifestyle not because I fear the alternative but because I like that 'me'.

As for the rest of my life...it is going great. Learning to run our retail store is and adventure everyday. Getting better and better...LOTS of work...tonight is nice - just doing some business stuff at home. We work a LOT. Our grass has gone to seed for the second time this year...but we're getting a handle on things. We'll get normal life under contrl soon!

High...

Hi all,
I know I have been away forever! Neil and I are soooo busy with our little store. I'm more proud of my husband everyday. We have been working a lot of hours but it will all pay off. I'm still working my regular job as well and that is going pretty good too!

I usually drop neil off at the store in teh morning, go to work, go home take care of puppies, head back to the store to help out from 5-close and we get home around 10:30 pm, sleep and repeat the next day...

However, I decided to take myself to the clinic, get a CT Scan, adn admit myself to the hospital on Tuesday and get my appendix out! Neil was at the store with no way to get to me....it's been a crazy few days! thanks to Ma and Pa Hagre for getting Neil from teh store and bringing him to me, Kris for picking me up from the Hospital, and to Lanae for staying with me the first evening home and getting me some groceries! All my friends and family are wonderful!

Not a good time for all of this to happen as my little hubby has to handle so much at the store by himself now but...what do you do? I am writing this now...a little high on Vicodin I believe...

I did do the Triathlon on July 14th! Little to no training involved. I was pretty proud of myself for finishing and it was really fun. Will be more of those in my future. Ok. I neeed to lay down now.
Talk to you all later!

War with lilacs

Neil and I have successfully cut our lilac hedge back about a foot and a half. Keep in mind this is no small task. the lilacs run down the entire side of our alley and at this time they are about 9 feet high... We somehow need to cut off the tops too...another day.

Before finishing up the lilacs last night, I mowed the entire lawn, front and back with the push lawn mower. We have one of the old style with no motor. I was pretty proud of myself. I was cranky as I've felt a little out of it this week. My workouts have been nonexistent except for a run onTues morning with Heidi. I did get up and run again this morning though. I've been riding my bike to and from the train. Next week I hope to start bike communting for real. My seat is really uncomfortable and for some reason my other bike seat won't fit on the older bike...hmmmm.

Craigs List Junkie

So I have become a Craigs List Junkie...

Sunday, Neil got a bike off of Craigs List. It has both road and mountain bike tires so he is set and he likes his new bike. We tried them out around the lake last night.

We also bought a new door yesterday. It will go on either the garage or the side door. It also has a screen door that just needs a new screen. So maybe the door will go on the garage and the screen will go on the side door...not sure. We may have issues cuz I'm pretty sure the door in the garage is really croooked...

I also bought a pair of bike shoes yesterday. They are clipless because eventually I will get the clipless pedals. The have been worn twice and are pretty much brand new!

This morning got up and road my bike to the lake and ran around the lake with Heidi. Now I'm eating breakfast and then I think I'm going back to bed for 1/2 hour! It's still wayyyy too early to go to work.

tune up

Yesterday, I went for a run with Heidi in the morning. It was painful. I haven't been running that much lately and probably need to work on that. My hamstrings are sore and tight. Not sure if it is from running or lifting on Friday. We ended up walking the last half mile or so but it was a gorgeous morning and I really enjoyed myself.

Came home and had breakfast and woke hubby up. We walked with pups over to Minnehaha park for the Get Fit Twin Cities celebration. i pretty much have the cutest, best dogs ever. Lots of comments and people wanting to pet them. They sat on our laps a tthe little program from the parks and rec people for 20 min and watched. What little sweethearts.

Then Neil and I went over to the store and Neil put up posters in the window while I went around and met a bunch of the area business people. Super fun. I made some great contacts and I'm looking forward to doing some marketing together and being a part of the business community. met one of the Purple Hat ladies and I'm thinking they may be great to team up with for some community service-type events. I was super tired after this.

Came home and took a little nap while Neil was hunting on Craig's list for a bike.

Waited for this guy from Craigslist to come and tune up my bike. 8 or so phone calls and 1.5 hours later he finally got here and then it took 2 hours but he did a great job for a great price and my bike is ready to go! 2 girls came to look at some older Mary Poppins type bikes he was selling and they are great. The bikes were so fun...from like the 1940s and they just made you giggle to ride them.

AFter that we headed over to Maia's graduations party, it was like 8:30 pm and we had planned at going around 4 pm....

Were going to head to the movie Knocked up but we ran out of time so will probably do that today.

Going to look at a bike for Neil today too, I think. Fun!

I love my bike and I can't wait to ride it this week!

New Bike!

Yesterday, I went bike shopping for a road bike! I stopped at 2 different used bike shops and one residence where I ended up with a vintage road bike. It is a Puch Pathfinder. It is a German bike and it has a lot of character and I think it just looks elegant. I'm pretty sure she needs a tune up so I may call around to try to find someone to do that today. Biking is so popular around here that it may be a while before I get scheduled though. I will try to take pics later.

I got up yesterday for a good 1/2 hour weights circuit before work. Went well. My hubby started putting signs in the store windows yesterday. It's getting soooo close!!

Bike to train and back - 1 mile
Weights - .5 hour full body

Mission Complete!

I rode home from work on my bike today! Keep in mind I have a mountain bike so it was a trek...and I haven't biked very much. So I ended up with about 8.5 miles in 1 hour. I didn't get lost or anything. I'm able to go on a bike trail the entire way which is pretty cool!

Tonight Neil and I went to a bike maintenance seminar at Penn Cycle right by our store. We learned a ton of stuff. it was super helpful. We came home and cleaned my bike chaing and adjusted the chain a little bit and I'm proud of us!

Bike commute - 1/2 mile morning, 8.5 miles afternoon

Windy

The beginnings of bike commuting to work today. Rode bike to light rail, kept it in locker at work, rode bike home from light rail as it was way to windy and stormy to attempt the ride home for the first time. I may take light rail in the mornings and ride all the way home at night...will have to see. If it is not terribly windy tomorrow night, may try then!

Bike - 1 mile ha ha
Yoga at home - 1/2 hour

Building has Begun

Neil and I got keys to our Play N Trade store today! It has skeleton walls which is pretty exciting. We also met the owner of our building - kinda fun to just run into him.

We then stopped to go swimming. Had a nice swim. I can't believe what a good swimmer Neil is now. just a couple months ago he couldn't even go one length. This afternoon we raced 2 times and tied both times...he will be beating me soon. Dang it!

I also walked to the train this morning. Checked into using the bike lockers at work and all you need to do is bring your own lock! Nice. Getting closer and closer to actually riding bike to work. Going to look at route options again tonight...a little scared of getting lost on the trails.

Walk - 15 min
Swim - 25 min

Phew...

Neil and I just got done with 5.5 hours of yard work. Not just any yard work, we are talking hard-core manual labor. We literally cut the top 5 feet off of the top of a tree in front of our house. It was too tall to trim so we cut off the top! We also hacked an overgrown 'spreader' to bits. I am so exhausted! and today I was going to 'rest'....

Beautiful day!

It is bright and sunny today. I got up and did my first bike commute to the gym! I was very proud of myself. It was shorter than I thought it would be but that doesn't matter. it is still a big step to go through the traffic, trust that my bike won't get stolen, etc.

Bike commute: 4.5 miles roundtrip
40 min circuit full-body lift at the gym

This afternoon we are going to Pirates 3 with Matt and Lyndey.

My shoulders are a little sore from yoga yesterday...felt good to get all bendy again!

Long time, no blog

It has been a while!

Things in the Hagre household have been busy. My sister did a wonderful job in her first 2 figure competitions. I made the trip out to Pittsburgh for her first one. She did such a great job and I am very, very proud of her.

Neil has been hard at work on the Play N Trade store. We will be opening in June! You can visit our website at:
www.playntrade.com/bloomington

We've been spending lots of time with the family. Our nephews and niece are adorable! Neil's grandmother passed away this last week (expected, she was ready to go and went peacefully). My family drove down for Tosh's comp here last weekend. We've been busy!

I have not been following an exact plan for training or eating. I'm trying to go with the whole idea of intuitive training and intuitive eating. I've had my ups and downs (...one binge fest with my sis after her comps....oops!...was fun though...).

Yesterday:
30 Min Swim
Puppy Walk
Mowed backyard

Today so far:
30 min jog
puppy walk
pulling weeds in yard
Planned: Yoga class at 10:45

Little by little I think I am finding myself. Doing lots of reading and trying to see what works best for me and feels best for my body. I'm learning to enjoy the journey!

Day 1 of Triathlon Training

Day one of training! Fun! I plan on doing a tri on June 30th. The one I was planning to do is already full so I'll have to find another one. I did sign up for the Lifetime Fitness Tri on July 14th. I've also been doing Yoga this week at CorePower Yoga. Wow - it is kicking my butt!!!

Training for is looking like this each week:
2 swim sessions
2 bike sessions
2 run sessions
2 full body circuit weight workouts
1 cardio class at Lifetime on Tuesday nights because it is a super fun class!
Yoga 2-3 times a week.
2 full rest days a week

The Yoga and the cardio class aren't 'prescribed' workouts. I added them on. So I might need to up my calories a bit more on those days.

I am doing a 40-40-20 split on calories and sitting around 2300 for each day.

Change in plans

After much thinking and changing my mind more times than I could count, I have decided to put off competing for a while. My heart just hasn't been in it this time and it wasn't fun. I think it is partly because I never got the hang of off-season and I never got to a point where I was happy with myself and could maintain. I am going to take some time to get to and MAINTAIN a bodyfat percentage that I am happy with. I'm going to probably do a triathlon or two this summer. I feel like I am making a really good decision.

I am continuing with my current plan - on week 3 of death circuits and carb cycling. I had the best workout today that I've had in months. I am excited about my program and my goals. I feel like I am back in the game and I am doing it for myself this time. I am so excited to get to a comfortable bodyfat % for me and stay there!

Next time I step on stage, I know I will have more muscle and I will be mentally ready for it and excited for the journey. Thanks to Seeeester and to Janet for listening and supporting me in my decisions. I can't wait to see you on stage, sis! I will join you up there, just not right now!
